Monster Wrangler

A song filled the night air around the stables, as the rain slowed to a pleasant patter on the roof. Ari was humming along as she tended to her monsters. She has gotten used to Loll's singing and his other strange habits. Jeff was still new, however, and the chasma wanted to get into everything and investigate things thoroughly. It made Llyan's little tricks seem much more manageable.

Having three monsters was a handful, but Ari loved each of them. Honestly, she wouldn't mind more.

Tinder began to trill along as best as she could. Mara was checking in with each of her monsters before heading up to Calico's room for the night.

Tinder fluttered her way over to greet the other Wrangler and her monsters. Blitz happily joined along, tongue lolling out the corner of her mouth.

'Hello, I am not sure if we met yet. My name's Mara.' She was actually greeting Loll since that was who she first stumbled into.

The nappen looked her over and extended his tongue.

"That's Loll." Ari said. "Jeff is the one flying about. And, Llyan is the one pretending to be a warwolf. I'm Ari."

'These are Tinder and Blitz.' She pointed to each in turn. Tinder began to sing to Loll while Mara kept a close eye on Jeff. She'd had enough Chasma-related trauma for one lifetime.

'Do you mind if I get part of the stables ready for breeding? I plan to try to pair Ashley Elle's Mr Wiggles with Tinder tonight. Blitz here has a strong relationship going with Orlok, don't you Blitzy?'

"I don't mind at all. I can help, if you'd like." she offered.

Loll stared at the tayirramad. Jeff had been staring too, but soon zipped away to look at something in the rafters.

'Are you also familiar with breeding monsters?' The large gathering of monsters indicated a most likely.

Mara began moving a few dividers around, and few blankets to make small alcoves. Hay was swept aside carefully, and small adjustments were made to the lighting to get everything just right.


(This character can spend 1 hour to make an area romantic. If she does so, for the next four hours, anyone making either a social Skill Roll of a romantic nature or a Wrangle (Energy) Skill Roll to breed monsters in the romantic area rolls +2 dice on that Skill Roll)

She nodded and began to help. "My parents run a ranch for exotic breeding. I've been assisting them all my life."

'Ah, yeah my mom runs a ranch too. I started helping out early, as well. Guess It's the norm, eh?' Mara continued with her careful preparations.

'Do you have any planned partners for your monsters? I can assist if you'd like?'

"Not really, no." she admitted. "I've raised Llyan since she hatched, but I only bonded with Loll and Jeff in the last few days."

'Did you meet anyone with monsters you would like to see if they're a good fit for? If you want we can breed them amongst other if you'd like? It's not often you come across other breeders or wranglers with good prospective monsters. We don't have to if you don’t want to, but you and I both know it can be hard for it to take.

'Actually if possible, if you are around this area in a few days, I'd like a little help with the next attempt for Blitz and Orlok.'

""I'm not sure." she said. "Obviously, the constructs aren't an option. Morty left. Not Riki. Nyx is adorable. Carl found a cute little loxabox."

She continued to ponder the possibilities, but said, "We should be around for a while yet. I'll be happy to help."

'Ooh loxabox are cute! Nyx is indeed adorable.' She looked thoughtful, 'that was my first time seeing a maguana in person. Do you think they can even breed with anything but other magauna?'

"I'm sure it's possible, but it would be difficult." she shrugged. "My parents could probably manage it. 'Angharad can create anything'"

The name and the phrase might ring a bell. The Angharad had a reputation for exotic and experimental breeding. They were often consulted and employed by those interested in unique monsters. This, of course, granted them some measure of both fame and infamy.

'Angharad, eh?' It most certainly did.

'My mother, Lorelei, might be able to but she only if Ophidian asked.' Ophidian Studios' partner Froste Ranch was decently well known in the breeding world, especially for deluzo hybrid variants for special effects, unusually colored staguar for mounts in westerns, and the like.

From her tone maybe we aren't too different, after all.

There was a nod of recognition and a glance at Llyan, who had assumed the appearance of a cat and curled up on Loll's back.

"Finding a match for her will be tricky. Llyan's come out of her shell a bit, but she's still really shy."

Tinder came over to sing and chirp softly to Llyan, trying to comfort the little Deluzo.

She shrank away at first, but the singing kept her attention. After a few moments, she relaxed and settled down, assuming a tayirramad appearance.

It was time for others to take over looking after monsters so guests could safely enter the hotel (and get some sleep). Milo was still a guest until checkout tomorrow. It was late when he entered the stables with his monsters. He quickly notices and recognises Mara and Ari. Diva was even faster: she runs right up to the pair. There she sits down with her head raised and slightly tilted forward. Pats were expected.

Mara immediately begins patting and cuddling Diva, even holding her hand down for a shake. 'How've you been Milo? Have you met Ari?'

Pats were received.

"Hello, Diva!"

Loll leaned forward and licked the warwolf.
