Monster Wrangler

Sam sat on the dock, watching the boats swaying in the water. It was the first time she had seen the sea up close. The salty air was odd but nice and somewhat invigorating. She just smiled at the water. Her little gympix just slept on Sam's head.

Arms up and hands behind his head, Milo wandered along the docks to check out the boats. He'd been part a few big port towns in his journeys, but he didn't stay long. This time he'd be in one place for nearly a week. It was a good opportunity to look at the ships and stare out over the water. His monster, Diva, pranced along behind him with her head held up high. He extended a hand to pet her head a moment before he spotted Sam and the small monster sleeping on her head. It was super tiny!

He walked over slowly and casually. "Um, hey, it's a nice day out huh?" He asks with a little smile. He adds a sideways wave if Sam looked his way. "Are you here for the tournament too?"

"Ya, tis nice day." She softly nodded trying not to disturb Ginger. "M here to watch n learn a thing o two." Sam turned to see who she was talking to. She extended her hand. "I'm Sam and L'il Ginger sleeping on my head." Sam chuckled lightly. "Have ya ever seen so much wa'er before?"

"I'm Milo. Nice to meet you." He flicks his right index finger out to indicate Diva. The prideful Warwolf lifted its head higher. "That's Diva." He accepts Sam's hand for a gentle handshake.

At the question he shakes his head. "Not really. Um, not like this."

She shook his hand with some energy. Sam hand was somewhat rough. "Pleasure... so ya competing?"

"Yeah, we're gonna give it a go! I thought it'd be a fun challenge when I heard about it." Milo brushed his nose and smiled. "We'll do our best." Diva appeared to nod in agreement.

"Well if Diva o ya gets hurt ya got someone to come to. I gots many remedies in my ere in my bag." She pointed to her bag.

"Um, that's really nice of you Sam, but would they work on Diva?" The Warwolf was a construct so ordinary medicinal sprays and such had no effect on it.

"Huh... m I thought it was a dog in an armor." Sam chuckled. "I haven't seen much o those." She grew thoughtful. "I guess you should find a good mechanic... I can't heal Ginger ere but I can heal her poison stings."

"It sort of is." Milo states, bursting out into a laugh. Diva flicks its tail about in agitation at being labelled a 'dog in armor'.

"A good mechanic would be great. I can just about keep Diva repaired, but I don't know how to restore her properly."

Sam somewhat instinctively placed a hand on the warwolf head. "Tis okay... I didn't mean no insult. Ya know... ya have a good spirit." She smiled at Diva. "Still my bag has many dothats that help in a pinch." Sam nodded.

The compliment went down well as Diva lifts its head and wiggled about a little. It was a bit strange seeing a robot do that, since it was quite lifelike, but constructs were a bit strange like that.

"Thank you. Well, um, likewise then." He pats his own backpack. "I have a few kits on me. You know, if you need anything and you see me about during the tournament."

Sam chuckled. "Nice...I only brought my high end sewing but I have some kits around." She gently picked Ginger from her head. "Sorry Ginger but is time for you to git down from there." She placed the gympix on her shoulder and turned to Milo. "She is a weird one ya know."

"She is? Um, what are Gympix usually like?" Milo asks curiously. He then points to a spot a few feet away from Sam. "Mind if I sit down?"

She motion him to sit. "Well Milo... gympix like to travel in the winds... Ginger is too lazy to do that. She just lay where'er she wants. After I found er she has not left my side." Sam sits next to Milo. "What bout Diva? How ya met?"

Nodding, Milo took a seat and listened as Sam talked about Ginger. He blushed a little when she moved closer. "I'm sure Ginger's happy you're looking out for her. Um, Diva belonged to my parents and they had her look after me when I was younger. She hasn't really left my side since." Milo responds, turning to look out over the water and at the boats.

"Must be nice to have something of your parents." She pressed her knees to her chest and placed her chin on top of her knees. "I live with grandma and grandpa... and Ginger." She sighed. "Ain't a bad life but I wonder..."

Milo shrugs a little. "I guess. I'd, um, rather have my parents around still. They died....." There's a long pause. "My aunt ended up looking after me until I decided to travel. You...?" He glanced Sam's way, sensing a connection.

"Yeah... I would like em be living but them helping out has taught me to be brave n face the things head on." Sam sighed. "I've wanted to see e word n learn new remedies. Have heard bout that Namtech spray that can repair constructs?"

"Yeah! I have one just in case." He turned to remove his backpack and to search inside it for the spray. He holds it up for Sam to look at.
