Monster Wrangler

Mara and her two monsters wandered a ways into the marsh. She began to look for any signs of monsters that may be in the area. She didn't have any bait to offer but perhaps they could track one down. Blitz and Talia did there best to help.

The two monsters pick up the scent of something and follow it to a watery part of the marsh, where a human corpse was draped over a half-rotten log. Three fat little flies were perched atop it, vomiting stomach juices onto the corpses flesh and slurping up the liquefied result.

Three of them, we've got this. Wonder what got that guy?

'You! Leave!' Mara shouted at whichever looked nearest. Blitz had dropped into the grass.

Since Mara tried Wrangle roll, Blitz is up.

Blitz snuck forward 20 feet and let out a mighty roar versus the Surprised chasma. They don't care, it was more like a loud meow.

Talia dashed forward then ran her normal speed the rest of the distance. She swung her claws at the closest bug but was unnerved by the way they eat.


(Blitz gains her 2 rage, advance 20 feet and spends the 2 rage for Roar 1 20' cone+1 for sharp fangs, since half movement they should be Surprised so v. Willpower 1 whiff

Talia gains 2 rage uses free taichen Dash advance reaction 17.5 ft, runs rest of distance, uses 1 rage for fury claws 2 vs defense 3 on chasma, miss mind 1 check for chasma unnerving. Talia left with 1 rage, Blitz has 0, Mara 40' from chasma, Blitz is 20 feet, Talia is 0'.)

The Chasma descend upon Talia is a flurry of slashes, but fail to strike her.

Blitz runs in and tries to attack with her Horns, Tali tries to use her wind attack, and Mara tries to yell at the second chasma. A whole lot of nothing happens.

-Talia generates 2 rage, total 3, uses jet stream on chasma 2, costs 2 rage and spending 1 to improve pool =miss

[Chasma each gain +2 Rage]

One of the Chasma sprays stomach acid in a wide arc in front of it, catching both Talia and Blitz with its digestive enzymes.

(Chasma 1: Talia and Blitz each suffer 2 Poison Damage, ignoring Armor, and become Poisoned 2. Reduced to 1 for Talia due to Lightning Reflexes)



The second Chasma darts in any tries to main Blitz with a swipe from its arm-blades, but the Staguar barely dodges the attack.

The third vermin comes at Blitz from the other side with a brutal attack, which also barely misses, only cutting away a bit of fur.

'Let's go!' Too risky... Blitz and Talia both disengaged, Talia stopping at Mara for the heal. Mara herself retreated after spraying Talia.

disengage then run, Talia 2 rage, fails to recover
takes 1 damage from poison, Talia disengage, flee to Mara, Mara hits Talia with health spray for 2 health back and then runs herself, Blitz 40', Mara 65', Talia 35')

The Chasma chase after the group, buzzing behind Talia as they catch up with the Taichen. One of the Chasma slashes the Taichen across the back, dealing a terrible, intensely painful wound.

(Talia suffers 7 Damage and becomes Sicked 1, Stunned 2, and Injured.)

(Injured: The character moves at half speed, has its Success Values worsened by 1, and generates 1 less Rage during its turn. If it's Injured again, it's killed.)


As Talia goes down, the other two Chasma pounce on it, injecting it with digestive acid.
(Injury Roll = Failed, Injury Roll = Success, second Injured status becomes death.


Talia twitches a few times, then falls still as the Chasma swarm around her to feed.


(The Chasma are no longer pursuing.)

Mara cried out in horror and anguish but continued to flee with Blitz. It happened all the time, she knew. It was her fault trying to to fight too many monsters. She would report the found body's location to the hotel and to the tournament organizers when she got back.

Edit: Also sharing one exceedingly strong chasma killed her taichen in one massive hit.
