Monster Wrangler

Mara decided to proceed with extreme caution this time. Losing Talia scared some sense into her. However, a successful breeder needs a wide stable of monsters to breed. Mara began to cook up an appropriate bait with the cooking kit. Blitz decided to eat it.

As soon as the bait is set down, a very normal-looking fish jumps out of some shallow water, swallows it, and swims away.

Mara rages against all very normal fish and promises herself Blitz can live off just fish if she'd like.

Agatha, Mr. Wiggles, and Ms. Sparkles had made their way into the marsh and saw Mara. Agatha waves.

'Ah. Hi Ashley. Mr Wiggles. Who's this?' Mara indicated the pretty vespark she hadn't seen before.

"This is Miss Sparkles. We became friends last night." And then after a second. "You can call me Agatha out here. Feels a little strange to go by my stage name out here. Unless, you prefer Ashley, of course." She looks around. "What brings you out here?"

'Agatha works. I was looking for a new monster. Though, I'm kind of afraid to run into Chasma again. I had a really bad experience with them lately. They were... kinda eating someone...' and murdered a monster I had just tamed. 'I know you like vermin but that was a bit much to see. Ms. Sparkles is gorgeous. She'll be a great fit with Mr. Wiggles for you on stage.'

Miss Sparkles does a little twirl to show her appreciation. "Yeah. I can imagine that was a lot to take in." Agatha didn't know what to say about that. "So, do you want some help?" That would at least change the subject.

'If you would like... if we can find something I could try seeing if the new monster would be a good mate for one of your two.' She paused, 'Blitz here has fallen for Calico's saturnadus Orlok.' Blitz chirped at the familiar name.

"I see. Blitz is a lucky one. Orlok is a good catch." Agatha thought it was a little odd, but monster lovin' is a strange thing. She shakes her head at using a line from one her songs in her own head. "Well, I'll see if I can help."

Agatha found a a part of what would be needed to make some bait.

Blitz purred her approval. 'It's an odd pair, but it's kind of cute.' Mara poked around in the underbrush and found some suitable bait materials.

Ashley helps Mara set the bait just right. Mr. Wiggles seemed a little pouty at first, but quickly became uninterested in it.

After a half hour or so, a three-foot tall flaming bird trots toward the bait, leaving a trail of lightly smoldering grasses behind it. It looks around, releases a shrill cry, and then starts to peck at the food.

Ashley takes out some incense that is supposed to make monsters more agreeable from her wrangler kit. She waves it around so the smell hits the fire bird.

The scent of burning incense is apparently agreeable to the flaming bird, as it calms down considerably as it continues to peck and scratch at the bait.

'Good girl, goooodddd giiiirl, easy....' Mara gently pet the Taymirrid under the chin, avoiding the plumes of flame. 'Who's a good girl?' The taymirrid brushed lightly against Mara's hand and chirped a pretty little song. 'You're quite the little sweetheart.'

'What are we going to call you? Kindle? Tinder? Flare? Hearth? Any of those sound good to you. Agatha? I think something sweet and fire related sounds good. Maybe something a bit romantic?'

"Well, Tinder sounds good if you're looking for something romantic." It made sense to her for some reason.

'I guess Tinder works.' She paused and looked at her new monster, 'well, Tinder, let's get you out of this swamp. I can't imagine it's good for your feathers.'
