A small table was set up near the arena for the two commentators to discuss the fight and offer their commentary for the fans watching on television.
"Welcome back, everyone. Once again, I'm Jason Brooks, here with Citaly Velasco, and you're watching The Oceanside Rumble here on ANN. Our fourth match of the day involves Calico Carter vs Carl Heinrich Mauser. If you're just coming back from a break, you're not watching a rerun; this is our second Warwolf in the tournament!"
He glances sideways toward Citaly. "You know, Citaly, you really have to question why so many parents these days are allowing their children to take care of assassination robots. It seems irresponsible to me! What are your thoughts?"
(Other people are welcome to post their characters watching the fights in this thread as well.)

""Well, supposedly the family in question is part of the upper crust of old Majuul, so that might be part of it. That Saturnadus is a real thing of beauty, though. Not much blood to drain from a Warwolf, though, so I would worry about its enthusiasm for the fight. It looks like Vasoworth sees her potential, for sure."

Mara looked on with a concerned expression. A warwolf, eh? Calico's got it rough. Orlok seemed plenty strong and those wings of his should come in clutch.... but will he care to?
Blitz, however, was fully alert and paying attention to this battle. Even when Mara would pet her, Blitz would lean in to the hand but eyes stayed fully on the action. Little encouraging growls came out of the Staguar from time to time.

"It really is an impressive Saturnadus. In fact, this is a good time to warn our viewers at home not to look directly into a Saturnadus' wings, as that's how they get you. I'm reminded of an episode of The Flavor of Love when your character's ex-husband was mind-controlled by a Saturnadus and forced to eat thirty-six cheeseburgers to fatten himself up. I gotta say, that was an uncomfortable scene to watch."

"An excellent warning, Jason. Always take care of yourselves at home!"
"A fascinating scene to film, though! The director decided to use a few different actors at different stages of weight, and the editors really did magic putting the whole montage together and making it look like the same person, while the actors mimicked each others mannerisms and voices amazingly. Everyone on the cast and crew is so talented," she said with a warm smile. It turns to worry as she looks back to the fight. "Looks like both fighters are pined for now, with the Warwolf slowly wearing Calico's Saturnadus down."

"I would not want to be that Saturnadus right now. Getting the warwolf frozen to the ground was a smart move, but you really don't want to be that close to it."

Blitz did NOT approve. Ears back and now uncharacteristically growling, Mara had to hold a hand in front of Blitz's chest to prevent lunging.
'I know you like Orlok, sweetie but you know how it works. You can’t go join in!' The tail thrashed, paws flexed showing claws, and horn tips lowered in the direction of the warwolf. Brown and black fur stood on end, and an angry snort emitted from Blitz.
Mara had no idea if the usually mild-mannered staguar was declaring war on that warwolf, all warwolves, or all constructs, in general, but she was clearly overly upset some dare bite her playmate.

"The Saturnadus... whose name is Orlok, by the way... still has a chance to pull a win out of this if it can get loose."
She looked to Jason. "I did have a lovely conversation with Calico the other day where I got to meet him! He's really even cooler up close."

"How does one keep a Saturnadus fed while on the road? Correct me if I'm wrong, Citaly, but they are blood drinking monsters, are they not?"

"They are, but as your traveling, most monsters are good at finding meals wherever they might travel, no matter what their diet. Whatever miscellaneous wildlife might be in the field for a Saturnadus, I imagine. I'd be more worried about what one might have to eat in a town."

"Oh, and it looks like Orlok has forced Killbot Rex into a coma of some sort. The judges are signaling that it counts as a defeat for the Warwolf!" He throws some papers from his desk behind him in his excitement. "I was certain that little moth was going to get ripped to pieces! What an upset!"

Citaly clapped lightly (so as not to mess up the mic, but excitedly). "What a fantastic turn around! Congratulations to Calico and Orlok on their surprise win!"

'See! Orlok won! He isn't hurt too bad!' Mara wondered if the warwolf was okay. Hopefully, his circuits aren't too fried.

Calico had run out to make sure Orlok knew the medical team were on his side, then walked up to her erstwhile adversary.
"Rex there is a mean machine, Carl. I honestly thought you guys had us."

Carl Heinrich was checking on Killbot Rex after the Construct rebooted. The War Wolf wagged its tail and barked happily, unhurt and seemingly not even remembering that it had just been locked in desperate battle with another Monster. "You rascal," the boy Wrangler scolded with a slight smile.

"Oh, uh, thanks Miss Carter," Carl Heinrich said, looking up and shuffling awkwardly. "You and Orlok were AMAZING! I estimated a 90% CHANCE of victory when KILLBOT REX got its teeth on Orlok at the very start, but my calculation didn't consider those PSYCHIC POWERS."
"I didn't even know psionics would WORK on Rex." The boy frowned thoughtfully. "That hypnotic pattern's a TERRIFIC tactic. I predict Orlok will defeat a LOT of Monsters that way. I'll need to STRATEGIZE about possible countermeasures."

"Well, if it helps your strategizing, it's a technique with a range of about twenty feet- Rex here is way better in melee than Orlok, but if he'd kept his distance, used the cannon from farther out, I think your auto-repair trick would have turned it into an unwinnable fight for us. I had to give on trying to do damage after that opening shot because I could see I wasn't ever going to catch up!"

"Interesting idea," the boy wrangler said, nodding. "I would've ASSUMED that the Saturnadus had the advantage at LONG range, so my strategy was for Killbot Rex to pin Orlok in melee and tear him down with fang and claw. But perhaps SHORT range was ultimately the more dangerous." Carl Heinrich looked thoughtful.
"I can see that I still have some things to learn. Thanks for the match."

"Oh, melee did us no favors, I would have really preferred to be left in peace at twenty yards off."
She winked.
"But yeah, something to think about. And hey, at least Rex isn't hurt in any fashion, so you can practice new concepts at your leisure! Anyway, thank you- it was a pretty tense affair for me, so I may be rambling a bit. Take care!"

"What an upset, folks. We're going to take a short commercial break, but we'll be back soon with another great monster fight. Stay tuned!"
