[Rayfe Drathmire]

Rayfe chuckles. "Ah, sure... I can try my best."

He gives her hand a light squeeze. "Do you want me to walk you there? In case some scoundrel starts throwing things at you on the way?"

[Calico Carter]

"Do I want you to? Yes. Should you? Probably not..."

She bit her lip and glanced to the side.

"Especially if I want to be, uhm, presentable when I get there."

[Rayfe Drathmire]

He grins a bit and rests a hand on his hip. "Whatever do you mean, Calico? Well, if you insist, but... it seems it could be safer..."

[Calico Carter]

She exhaled and half-grinned.

"Don't forget I have Orlok on overwatch. Anyone getting cute's likely to end up out cold and down a pint of blood."

Chitter.

[Rayfe Drathmire]

"Fine, fine... I leave you in Orlok's capable care..."

Rayfe turns toward the Saturnadus and gives him a nod. He then signals to Nyx, who comes clomping over to his side. The wrangler scritches her behind the ear before turning to Calico. "...I'll see you at the ceremony, then?"

[Calico Carter]

"Be kind of hilarious if I didn't show up, wouldn't it? But a terrible look for this tournament, any future business plans, and, you know, anyone I stood up by doing so..."

She bit her lip again, then sighed.

"So yeah, I'll be there."

[Rayfe Drathmire]

"I've heard the way they cheer for you in the stands... I think there's plenty of people who would be worried if you vanished."

He reaches out and lifts her chin up a bit with his hand. He her thoughtfully. "Myself included."

"Remember, you earned your place today. Do you believe that?"

[Calico Carter]

"Yeah. Well. Orlok and I. Teamwork."

[Rayfe Drathmire]

He smiles. "Of course."

Rayfe pats Nyx again and heads toward the door with the Magnox in tow. He pauses with his hand on the doorknob, and glances back at her. "...I had a good time, Calico. Thank you."

[Calico Carter]

"It's mutual Rayfe. Be seeing you around?"

[Rayfe Drathmire]

"Certainly will." He gives her a wink and a little wave.

Nyx huffs and swishes her tail at Calico and Orlok before trotting out the door after Rayfe.

Calico let out another sigh when the door closed.

She didn't even glance at Orlok as she turned to get changed.

But she did speak.

"What're you looking at?"

The saturnadus fluttered his wings absently, but didn't so much as chitter in reply.
