"Sound reasoning," he agreed, retreating to the beach chairs and sitting down to seem less imposing. Killbot Rex followed behind him and curled up on the ground.

They resumed watching for the slime fish to reappear.

Ari sat in the other chair with Llyan. Loll stood beside them, staring intently in another direction.

After a little while, the creature wiggles its way out of its burrow, looks around apprehensively, and then pulls its way across the sand to the slimy rocks. After scanning the area once again, it starts to tentatively lick the slime, pausing every so often to glance about in paranoia.

Ari offered Carl one of the rocks she'd kept. "Do you want to approach it?"

"It seems really scared," Carl Heinrich said in a low voice. "I... I guess I could try."

Taking the rock, the boy wrangler tried to approach very slowly, crouching low to seem less imposing. He held the slime-covered rock extended towards the creature.

The creature backs up as Carl draws near, but after a few long minutes of apprehension, it slowly crawls toward the offered rock and gives it a few suspicious licks.

Carl Heinrich smiled shakily as the creature licked at the slime-covered rock, staying silent and holding the rock as still has he can, in order to avoid startling it.

The creature continues to watch him suspiciously, but for the moment, hunger seems to have won out over fear.

“It likes it,” Carl Heinrich said softly as the creature fed. He tried to turn the rock slightly to give the animal more slime to lick.

“Do you want to give it a try, Ari?” he suggested.

"Alright." she moved in close to Carl, stretching her hand out with another rock.

The creature starts to back away a bit, but after a moment, it tries the slime on this new rock. Apprehensivve licking ensues.

"It definitely likes it," Carl Heinrich whispered. "Maybe we can come back tomorrow to feed it again so it doesn't have to go out foraging as much."
