That's bait (Day 3 Early Evening)

Milo's assistance seems to calm the monster down, and after a few moments, it moves over to Ari and starts to eat from her hand... and then knocks the food to the ground and slowly licks her fingers, its warm tongue curling around her digits. It makes eye contact with her from beneath its fluff, its eyes narrowing suggestively as its tongue slides up her wrist to her forearm.

The Nappen never breaks eye contact.

[Ari]

She looked down at the tongue, confused and concerned. Reaching out with her other hand, she pet it.

"You are an odd one, aren't you?"

Llyan took a step back and hid behind Ari, dismissing her disguise.

The Nappen withdraws its tongue, still staring at Ari, and starts... well, doing something in its mouth. She can see its cheeks bulging, first on one side, then the other. Then there's a muffled crunch sound as the Nappen bites down hard, and it shudders from head to tail in a way that almost seems sensual.

After the fit passes, it opens its mouth and sticks out its tongue, upon which is resting a cracked, bloody tooth.

[Ari]

She had seen some weird things at home, but this was extra strange. And disgusting.

"Er, thank you..." wrinkling her nose, she put her hand out to take the tooth.

Ari was not very familiar with nappen and was concerned about this ones behavior. She began to carefully examine it for any physical issues or deformities.

[Milo Whitewood]

"Is... is that normal?" Milo had seen plenty of strange, even frightening things since he'd begun traveling. However, for the disturbing category... this was quickly leaping to the top of the charts.

He hovered a few metres away with a concerned expression.

[Ari]

"I don't think so." she said. "I'm checking to see if he's hurt or something."

[Mindshred]

As Ari inspects it, the Nappen's tail swishes back and forth lazily. Physically, it seemed fine... other than the missing tooth, of course.

[Ari]

"He's fine. Just... very weird." she concluded.

She returned to face the nappen, looking it in the eye. "I'm Ari. This is Llyan. This is Milo. And, this is Diva. We want to be friends."

[Mindshred]

The Nappen's gaze becomes distant as it starts to tongue the insides of its cheeks again, as if trying to find another tooth.

[Ari]

"No, no, no, no." she held up the tooth. "This one is fine. This is all I need, thank you. I can give you another treat, if you'd like?"

The Nappen stares at Ari for a long moment, then slowly opens its mouth and uncurls its tongue, leaving it quivering in front of her.


(Passing control of the Nappen over to Ari now!)

[Milo Whitewood]

"Right..."

Milo moved closer to get a better look at the Nappen himself.

"He looks healthy."

When he was introduced he waved. Diva, for her part, stuck her head up. She wasn't sure what to do without Milo directing her.

"Hi again."

[Ari]

Ari gave him another treat, carefully placing it on his tongue, which slowly withdrew. The nappen's focus shifted to Milo as soon as he spoke. His eyes locked with the boy's, staring intently into them.


"He needs a name." she said.

[Milo Whitewood]

"Yeah... I guess it does... um... well, Toothless comes to mind. Hmm... he is a boy. If that helps."

Milo didn't fancy being slobbered by the disturbing Nappen. He remained where he was, enduring the creature's staring.

"Do you think he'll get along with Llyan?"

[Ari]

"I think so, but I don't think she'll like being licked."

The nappens tongue emerged again, simply hanging from its mouth.

"Loll. I'm going to call you Loll." she decided. "Come on, let's go for a walk."

[Milo Whitewood]

"Loll. Huh." Milo repeated it thoughtfully. He'd never heard that name before. Ari had a good imagination. "Just wandering for a bit?"

[Ari]

"Just to see what he does." she said.

Ari moved away and waited to see if Loll followed. The nappen continued to stare at Milo. After a few long moments, however, he followed Ari. Still, he didn't look away from the boy.

[Milo Whitewood]

"Sure..."

Milo followed behind with Diva joining him. He was uncertain about the Nappen so far. Weird vibes.

[Ari]

"I'm sorry we didn't find anything for you." she said. "We can try again."

Loll continued to follow. Occasionally, he made an odd sound. It was like a mix between coughing and laughing.

[Milo Whitewood]

"It's fine. I'm not in a rush." Milo replies reassuringly. "And, um, I feel like I should learn more about Nappen now after meeting... Loll."
