Handing over the dough (D3 LM)

[Milo Whitewood]

(Milo is a bit out of it after pizza-terror)

The Warwolf turned to look at Blitz. It took a moment before she mimicked what the Staguar was doing. Her own paws were lifted, but she seemed to be waiting on instructions for what to do next.

Milo ordered a few slices of pizza and a small bottle of apple juice for himself. He stood by the counter, sipping from it, as the staff plated his order. He tried to shake off the earlier sight.

[Calico Carter]

Calico, standing beside him and still rattled herself, spoke quietly.

"Has that sort of thing happened before?"

[Milo Whitewood]

Milo nearly drops the bottle of drink as Calico's sudden appearance and whisper startles him. He takes a deep breath before turning to face her. He glanced around a little nervously. "Um, what do you mean?"

He was not a good actor.

[Calico Carter]

She just looked at him.

"You know damn well, Milo."

[Mara Froste]

'High-five Blitz and Diva!' Blitz put her paws forward and if Diva didn't closed the gap herself. 'Good job you two! Good job! You're the best!' Mara lavished on the praise as the others chatted. Talia was watching with slight annoyance.

Blushing, Milo looked away and couldn't make eye contact. He wasn't used to people swearing or being this directly inquisitive. "Did you see something... too?" He fidgeted nervously. "Nobody believes me so I don't talk about it."

Diva was oblivious to this hushed conversation. As Blitz put her paws forward she did the same until there was a clap. The praise from Mara makes her especially happy if her excited tail wagging was any indicator.

[Calico Carter]

Blushing, Milo looked away and couldn't make eye contact. He wasn't used to people swearing or being this directly inquisitive. "Did you see something... too?" He fidgeted nervously. "Nobody believes me so I don't talk about it."

"I saw."

Milo looked really, helplessly uncomfortable. Much worse than if he'd been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

"It happens often."

[Calico Carter]

"It happens often."

Calico... blinked.

"And nobody believes you? 'Cause I know what I saw."

[Milo Whitewood]

Milo set his drink down and rubbed his hands together. "... It doesn't usually happen where other people can see... and most that have... run away." He glanced her way for a moment. "You're the first adult that's seen it and stayed, but... you didn't say anything."

"Here's your order. Sorry for the wait - the slices are fresh!"

The pair are interrupted by a keen (or at least loud) counter staffer who sets down a plate with Milo's pizza.

"Um, yeah. Thank you. I'll pay now." The boy glanced to Calico again like he might be scolded before getting his wallet out to pay.

[Calico Carter]

"Hey, now wait a second..."

She trailed off. Sighed.

"I didn't want to freak Mara out, if you must know."

[Mara Froste]

Mara was still doting on the group of monsters, making sure Talia also knew she was a good girl.

[Milo Whitewood]

"... She wouldn't believe us anyway." Milo states with matter of fact resignation. He sighs a little himself after paying. When Milo isn't looking, Calico gets a disapproving look from the staffer who clearly had the impression she was bullying the young boy. Perhaps he knew her too?

Milo grabs his plate and drink. "Um, shall we eat?"

[Calico Carter]

"Sounds good to me. The pizza looks pretty good here..."

She favored the staffer with an arched eyebrow.

"... doesn't it?"

[Mara Froste]

'You guys find anything good up there?' Mara said it in a tone that seemed like she was a bit distracted, as she was still doting on the assembled gathering of monsters, especially the pretty Diva.

[Milo Whitewood]

"It's been popular each time I've passed it." Milo responds. Calico continues to get a dubious stare from the staffer as the boy returned to the table.

"Back. Hey Diva, you look happy." His plate and drink are set down so he can give Diva some pats. "I picked three that sounded good. They all turned out great." He nods to the plate with a smile. "The new batch of pizza is ready so, um, it's a good time to get some slices Mara."

[Calico Carter]

"My little winged jerk been behaving himself?"

Chitter.

[Mara Froste]

"I...erm... " Mara looked awkwardly at Calico and back. "...kinda broke."

Blitz settled into snuggling up with Orlok. She purred loudly so everyone could hear. Talia edge closer to Diva and cocked her head from side to side to look at the mechanical canine.

[Milo Whitewood]

"Too many monsters?" Milo asked with a grin.

Diva tilts her head as she looked toward Talia. She didn't know what to make of this monster. It didn't have hands or paws.

[Mara Froste]

Talia decided to show off for Diva and spread her clawed wings wide, then turned to show her back too. She was a pretty murderchicken and she knew it.

"We were doing ok for ourselves, and I usually cook but health sprays and ingredients for cooking still cost money. It's not easy being an adult some days." She looked to Calico and gave a lopsided grin.

"I think we may be washing a lot of dishes in the near future."
