The chromium armor plate in the back of Killbot Rex's head had been opened up to give access to the interior of the war wolf's metallic cranium. Carl Heinrich slotted the last few circuit boards into the expansion slots, then used a can of compressed air to clean stray dust out of the electronics before snapping the metal plate closed again.

A glowing red light returned to Killbot Rex's eyes as its speakers emitted the chime indicating that Rex's operating system was booting up. The war wolf stood up on its newly improved leg actuators.

"IT'S ALIIIVE!" shouted Carl Heinrich in triumph. Well, strictly speaking, Carl knew that a Construct was not alive. But the boy engineer had a tradition to uphold.

"Whoa!" Milo popped his head in to see who had shouted.

"Hey, um, it's Carl right? You both ok?"

"OKAY?!" Carl Heinrich asked incredulously. "I have just successfully performed a MASSIVE UPGRADE on KILLBOT REX! I have IMPROVED upon the ancient MAJUUL TECHNOLOGY that powers ALL Constructs! We are more than 'OKAY' .... we are ... TRIUMPHANT!"

The boy engineer jumped up and down flailing his arms in excitement. The new-and-improved Killbot Rex caught the sense of excitement and began barking. The electronic barking sound played from the Construct's audio synthesizers sounded richer and more authoritative than before, pitched in a lower register with more reverb and more bass blended in.

"Wow! Really? WOW!" The other boy stepped in with Diva by his side. He had a good look toward Rex. The Warwolf did indeed appear more solid. "That's amazing Carl!"

He noted the song sound and looked about for the source. "What's that?"

"Good morning, Ari," Carl Heinrich said.

"I've just completed the most TERRIFIC upgrade for Killbot Rex," he said excitedly. "It should increase his top running speed by 33 PERCENT!"

"Morning Ari." Milo replies cheerfully. He was happy to see her.

Carl's declaration takes his attention again in the next moment. He looked over Rex carefully. Even Diva moved in to check the other Warwolf. "That's really awesome Carl."

Ari stepped out of the stall, followed by Loll. Llyan was sitting on the nappen's back. A chasma also appeared, hovering next to them.

A bedraggled Antony looks up, Rocky finally purring back to life after the damage done in the fight. Rocky is purring...well, chiming once again back up to full

"Jeff followed us back from the marsh." she explained. "I was a bit concerned at first. But, he's not like the others. He's friendly and inquisitive. He wants to learn."

"Despite the DANGER the Chasma posed to local travelers, I had HEARD that they could be domesticated," Carl Heinrich commented. "You've been GREAT at handling wild Monsters from what I've seen. But you named yours... JEFF??"

She shrugged. "It just felt right. And, he seems to like it."

Hearing the name said, the chasma flew closer to Carl. Once he had had a good look, he returned to hover over Ari's shoulder. There had been a slight odor following Jeff, but he otherwise seemed clean and inoffensive.
