Bugs! [Day 1 LM - OPEN]

"I'll try to calm and just let it go if it doesn't work." No reason to get themselves or their monsters injured if she can't get the monster calm.

[Dion Moore]

"Oh nice, a Chasma. Are you going to keep it or just practicing your bug catching?"

Dion stands back and lets the pop-star handle things without his interference.

"Are you focused on that type of monster?"

[Ashley Elle]

"Yeah. My grandfather is a trapper in Rosalia. He taught me everything I know about monsters." After a second, "Oh. Don't look at Mr. Wiggles."

[Dion Moore]

Having read all about Mr. Wiggles Dion wastes no time, turning his back and shielding his eyes. "Morty, Turtle!" At his command the Mycetar does his best to tuck into a ball, spines sticking out in a defensive posture.

The Chasma's wings beat quickly as it tries to escape the crude trap...

[The Chasma has Unnerving: When this character is targeted with a Direct attack, the attacker must attempt a Difficulty 1 Mind Roll. On a failure, the attack is cancelled, and the attacker loses any spent Rage.]

(The Chasma is 30 ft. away from Agatha and Mr. Wiggles)

Agatha uses the motions and sounds she remembers from her grandfather doing to try to calm a vermin down as she cautiously approaches it.

(The Difficulty is equal to the monster's Willpower, so 3 in this case, which is a success with no Raises. You can make the Chasma perform a single task.)

The Chasma turns its head toward Ashley, listening to the sounds she was making. It still seemed a bit wary of her presence, but it seemed to be waiting for something...

Agatha, realizing she failed to bond it to her, signals she wants it flee after it gets free.

The Chasma struggles with the trap a little more, eventually breaking free. It stares at her with its bulbous eyes for a moment, then hops up into the air, its small wings beating rapidly as it awkwardly buzzes away into the marsh.

Agatha moves back to Dion. "It's gone now. I managed to convince it to go away when I realized I couldn't bond it."

[Dion Moore]

"Wow, you didn't try and fight it or anything you just let it go. I don't think most people would be that nice. Like most people who went through the trouble of trapping it would either keep trying to bond with it and then sick their current monster on it for the practice."

[Ashley Elle]

"Eh. I wasn't really being nice. I just set the trap on impulse when I noticed Chasma had been here before. Plus, I don't want to go into my first match tomorrow with Mr. Wiggles injured. Maybe if I get knocked out early, I'll do a little more planning and try again."

[Dion Moore]

"Yeah tomorrow's gonna be crazy, I met a guy who brought a Warwolf with him earlier at the beach. Not sure whether I would rather face that sorta thing early in the tourney or at the end, Morty here doesn't have the best tricks to deal with something like that. What about you, you run into any of the other competitors yet? I'm kinda surprised you aren't being asked for autographs all the time."

[Ashley Elle]

"A Warwolf? I don't think I ever seen one in person before. But you and Morty are the first competitors I met. I came out here the first chance I got." Agatha chuckles. "The swamp really doesn't have the most autograph seekers." Plus, while she was an up and comer, she was still just an up and comer. Not quite to the point where she gets swamped by autograph seekers.

[Dion Moore]

"Yeah I guess not." He said feeling dumb. "So like, what at the top of your wangling list what do you want to tame next?"

[Ashley Elle]

Agatha thinks. "I don't really know. My managers never wanted me to have a monster. They only agreed because the record company wanted me to sing songs about monster wrangling. So, I never thought about it. I like vermin. My grandpa is a vermin specialist. They are all incredible in their own way." Agatha looks over to Morty and back to Dion. "What about you? As a future monster wrangling star, I'm sure you have thought about it quite a bit."

[Dion Moore]

"Vermin are cool, I'd actually love to have a Zephid but my dad says that the last thing we need in a swamp is more rain. I'd also like to have a Dursulk, I think the two of them and Morty would make a great team and it wouldn't really cost anything to feed them since they all eat plants or bugs." Morty slowly started to warm up things and hesitantly waddled over towards Agatha. "Watch your toes around him, he can be a little clumsy and he weights A LOT."

[Ashley Elle]

"A Dursulks are cool. I love how they paint themselves. I have a book back home of that is the different designs they have done. There are some interesting ones. And Zephids, if it helps, you can tell your dad that the domesticated ones aren't as bad about calling the rain as the wild ones. There's some techniques that wranglers use to help control their impules. If you want, I can call my grandpa. I think there is a book about it."

Agatha smiles at Morty. "Is it OK to pet him?"

[Dion Moore]

"It...it is." He said a little surprised she would want to. "The spores aren't harmful unless he gets agitated and he only ever gets agitated in the arena; though I understand if you want to keep Mr. Wiggles away from him." Morty was careful to keep his scythes tucked back and kind of waved it's elbow at her.

[Ashley Elle]

"Grampa had some carnoids. So, I've been around worse." She pets the mycetr. "At least, I won't have to drink some gross medicine after petting him. You're a handsome boy, Morty."

Though Mr. Wiggles had gone to Dion, seemingly wanting to be petted himself. Whether that was because he wanted to get petted or make Agatha jealous was only known to him.
